These days, we’re working on various preparatory tasks—such as conducting chemical analyses on different types of livestock manure. For example, the week before last we visited Kjalarnes, where we were allowed to collect samples from Stjörnugrís. We gathered 3 x 200 grams of pig manure and sent the samples for analysis to Efnagreining ehf. in Akranes. The Danish engineering firm NIRAS has been providing guidance on the analysis and on which variables need to be quantified. Among other things, we’re looking at the levels of nitrogen, dry matter, and phosphorus.
