Last month Terraforming LIFE participated in Aqua Nor, the world’s largest aquaculture technology trade show, held in Trondheim, Norway. The event is recognized as a key meeting place for the global aquaculture industry, attracting more than 25,000 visitors from over 70 countries every two years. Companies, researchers, policymakers and innovators come together to exchange knowledge, present new technology and discuss the pressing challenges of the industry.
Our team attended with a clear purpose: to introduce the Terraforming LIFE project, to learn how other countries are addressing the challenge of fish sludge treatment, and to extend our network across borders. We had insightful discussions with stakeholders from various parts of the industry, and it is clear that the problem of handling fish sludge from saltwater is not unique to Iceland. Both Norway and Scotland are facing similar challenges, and there is strong interest in sharing knowledge and exploring joint solutions.
In the coming weeks we will continue to strengthen our network by following up with new contacts made at Aqua Nor. The exchange of ideas at the event confirmed that collaboration is key if we want to build sustainable pathways for aquaculture waste management.
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that Terraforming LIFE will also participate in Aqua Ice which takes place in Reykjavík on September 30th and October 1st. Aqua Ice is Iceland’s leading aquaculture exhibition and conference, attracting both national and international participants. At our seminar we will focus on presenting the Terraforming LIFE project and provide insights into the situation in Norway when it comes to handling fish sludge. More details will be shared soon.
Terraforming LIFE is proud to be part of the international conversation on circular solutions for aquaculture. Aqua Nor was an important step in that journey and Aqua Ice will be the next.
